The Phoenix Catalyst™ · 501(c)(3) non-profit

Bring color back into your world.

Home should be more than where you live. It should be where you thrive. We bring neighbors together to care for each other and the places we share.

Why it exists

Healing turns outward

Isolation makes everything heavier. Connection makes it lighter. The Phoenix Catalyst strengthens mental, physical, emotional and environmental well-being through community events that anyone can join.

No pressure, no stigma. Just people showing up for each other and for the places we share.

What we see

Community, alive again

A world where people know and support their neighbors, local spaces are cared for with pride, and well-being is something we build together.

Participating in community life should feel natural, personal and joyful, not like a chore.

Four pillars

What we do

We start with one event per pillar each year, chosen by what volunteers care about and what the community needs. As more people join, more events follow.

Environmental Well-Being

We care for the places that hold us. Cleanups, tree planting, conservation and hands-on education that reconnect people to the land and water they live beside.

What this could look like (12)
  • Cleanups in parks, trails, beaches, riverbanks and public spaces
  • Tree planting and native species restoration
  • Volunteering at wildlife rehabilitation and nature centers
  • Trail maintenance and invasive species removal
  • Guided hikes, ranger-led programs and nature walks
  • Trips to national and state parks, arboretums and gardens
  • Picnics, group walks and mindfulness after the work is done
  • Workshops on recycling, composting, gardening and waste
  • Citizen science: water quality and wildlife observation
  • Earth Day, Arbor Day and seasonal events
  • Eco-friendly art and environmental murals
  • Partnerships with nonprofits, schools and agencies

Community Support & Connection

Strong communities are built by showing up. Food drives, donation drives, shared meals and neighborhood gatherings that meet real needs and rebuild real trust.

What this could look like (14)
  • Food drives with food banks, shelters and community centers
  • Recovering surplus meals and groceries for families in need
  • Drives for hygiene items, school supplies, clothing and household goods
  • Visits to nursing homes and assisted living facilities
  • Crisis-care kits and emergency comfort bags
  • Community meals, potlucks and game nights
  • Skill shares: cooking, budgeting, journaling, organizing
  • Classroom supply support for schools
  • Letter-writing, holiday cards and encouragement notes
  • Community gardens
  • Repair days for clothing and household items
  • Swap events and resource sharing
  • Help finding local resources (informational)
  • Community walks, family days and seasonal celebrations

Physical Wellness & Movement

Movement connects people. Walks, runs, hikes, yoga and community fitness for every ability level, because wellness doesn’t have to be done alone.

What this could look like (9)
  • Walking, jogging and running groups for all levels
  • Fun runs, 5Ks, 10Ks, half and full marathons, trail and charity races
  • Community hikes and nature walks
  • Stretching, mobility and beginner-friendly fitness
  • Mindful walking, yoga and breath-focused movement
  • Outdoor group wellness sessions
  • Walk-and-talk meetups and activity days
  • Family-friendly outdoor recreation
  • Partnerships with fitness educators and parks departments

Mental & Emotional Well-Being

Space for inner care without stigma or pressure. Meditation, journaling circles, awareness campaigns and gatherings where people feel seen, supported and less alone.

What this could look like (9)
  • Guided meditation, sound baths and grounding
  • Inner-child, forgiveness and shadow-work circles (nonclinical)
  • Awareness of stress, burnout, suicide prevention and addiction recovery
  • Education on narcissistic abuse, coercive control, gaslighting and codependency
  • Journaling circles and reflective writing workshops
  • Peer conversation spaces and discussion circles
  • Grief-awareness and remembrance gatherings
  • Sharing local support resources and crisis lines
  • Fundraisers for mental and emotional well-being

Events are community-driven, so not everything listed will happen in the first year. Your sign-up helps decide what comes first.

Volunteer

Show up with us

For locals, or anyone willing to travel. Tell me what you care about and when you’re free. It shapes what we plan first.
